i don't really feel like making a real entry right now... so i'll leave you with a couple of images. one: i could barely watch this happen. the picture was taken from the computer room window as the truck went down the street. i'm still not totally over it... i'm just happy my beloved camry was taken away with a pick-up truck... it was used to living with a truck. the camry is going to live in the country now. sniff... sniff...

two: the supercool bag that kimya dawson custom painted for me arrived yesterday!! i have never been so excited... i was a little nervous to open it, but once i saw the bag was powder blue, i knew i was going to be okay. i LOVE LOVE LOVE how newt is pepto pink and how phoebe looks about ready to hug him. sigh, if that was only the case in real life.

kimya also sent two of her solo cds, her book, and a pencil that says, "kimya dawson loves me" down the side. i'm very excited about all of that stuff, too.

and while you're at it... check out this site. that belongs to my biggest fan, steve brightman. hugs and kisses to you, steve! you RULE.

i'd like to give a shout out to my fans in kuwait. i have no idea who you are, but you really seem to enjoy my site.

check out brightman's flog.

24 FEB 2003 - 7.17a
this morning i received an email from steve asking me to remove the link to his page from here. apparently he's "gotta stand by his friends," which is fine... (i know what he means, thank GOD mine have stood around for me). i wonder if mr. brightman will stop reading my blog out of consideration for his friends? hmmmmm. that will be interesting to see.

of course, no hard feelings towards steve. you should still read his stuff because it's good... even if i can't link to it anymore.

in other news, i have this pain in my hand that is so fierce, i can't even hold a pen. i'm going to be screwed today at school.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BECKY!!!!!!!! i had such a nice time seeing you last night... i sincerely wish i had not been so stinking tired.

the guided by voices show the other night was pretty good. i had never been to this venue in columbus... it was called the factory and due to a serious lack of directions on their website, and due to a highway being closed, thus making my mapquest directions completely useless, we got lost. somehow, by the grace of bob, we managed to find the place... the building was some big old warehouse type deal... no signs or anything. luckily we knew the address.

inside, this place was so crazy. i can't even explain it... it was pretty nice... best bathrooms in a club EVER.

ron house (formerly of the thomas jefferson slave apartments) opened. then gbv played for three solid hours... did two encores. played a lot of new stuff, and a lot of the standard stuff. i think there was definitely more new stuff played than old stuff... and i think that if the new stuff they played is any indication of what the new album will be like, the new album should be pretty good. i made a couple new friends and ran into an "old friend" from indianapolis. it was cool.

what did they play? oh jesus. cut-out witch, lethargy, official ironmen rally song, lethargy, fair touching, i drove a tank, salty salute, game of pricks, helicopter, back to the lake, skin parade, wire greyhounds, glad girls, teenage fbi, things i will keep, shocker in gloomtown, red ink superman, watch me jumpstart, alone stinking & unafraid, echos myron, storm vibrations, car language, harrison adams, tight globes, i am a scientist, hardcore UFOs, buzzards and dreadful crows, the ids are alright, radical girl, waved out, beg for a wheelbarrow, christian animation torch carriers... i'm sure i could remember more if i tried, but i don't think anybody reading this really cares. THREE HOURS of stuff... so i'm sure you can imagine.

oh, and lacey had her license plate number announced by the annoying screaming "motherfucking" guy. she had to move her car during the show. that totally sucked... i'm going to write the the factory place and complain. apparently she was parked in some spot reserved for the club next door (they had some kind of valet service and velvet ropes outside their door, where lacey was parked)... when we got to this creepy place, there was no indication of the spot being a reserved spot. it didn't even look like there was a club next door (but then again, it would've been impossible to tell the factory place was a club from the outside). she missed a song she liked, so that sucked.

after the show, there was some kind of after party with dave holmes from MTV. for those of you who don't remember dave holmes, he was the one who lost to that annoying jesse kid in MTV's "wanna be a VJ?" contest many years ago. he went on to actually work for MTV, where that jesse freak just kind of disappeared... well, for some reason, dave holmes was there. i thought he looked cute.

that's it.

joke of the day: why are indie rock boys bad in bed? because they're always bragging about 7" that they don't have.

i'll give the credit for that to paul h. i'm not sure where he heard it from, but i thought it was good...

"h" and i went to teddy leo last night. super good. probably the best ted leo/pharmacists show i've been to... i think it rivals teddy's solo act, which was always quite good. opening bands were good, although i was a bit upset that the perfect guy changed the film... instead of the dancing pageant girls, the film was of a star made of lights. the lights changed color and it was boring. bring back the dancing pageant girls!!!

i was glad to get out to a show (even if i was going to a show tonight, anyway)... and it helped a bit that it was a thoroughly good show... good openers (a band called saturday looks good to me played in between the perfect guy and teddy) and i had fun hanging out with paul and his friends. we looked for brittney and we did NOT hear "dirty dream number two" on the juke box, much to my dismay.

i'm going to have chinese for lunch.

presenting... the nakedmobile... better known as message in a bottle. paul h suggested i get vanity plates that read SNDG SOS. that fucking rules.

so, tomorrow is gbv. i have no idea what is going on with that, but i know that i will be there. i have no idea what is going on tonight. most immediately on my agenda is depositing my paycheck. i am going to try to make a definite decision about going to ted leo.

lucky number nine, hooray!

camry, rest in peace: a memorial for the camry.

at some point in 1997, i acquired a dark green 1994 toyota camry. it was around this time that the windshield cracked. i told many stories about how the crack happened, and if i ever told you that i hit a guy and had my license suspended, i hope you realize i was lying. this is how the crack looked today, at the time of death... it went from here all the way to here.

i smoked many, many cigarettes in my camry... i feel bad about stupid things like this, but that's what i get for not growing up all straight edge.

perhaps one of the most traumatizing events ever regarding my beloved late camry was the new year's eve in detroit, 2001-2002. in this picture you can see the difference in glass color from the front window to the rear. rear window is bronze, front window is green. oops. honest mistake, but that's okay. in that picture, i'd also like to point out the lack of a side mirror. some of you may remember the comical story from this past august... i was driving down 71 and the mirror just flew off my car. it was pretty funny.

last but not least... just 11 more miles and we would have made 177,777. i would like to point out that i filled the gas tank last night. that kind of sucks. BUT... at least the camry had a good last meal, i guess.

well, now for the real announcement... i am picking up my new car tomorrow. i can't believe i bought a car... but... i did... and it's cool. i now join the masses of assholes in SUVs... kind of. i bought a 2003 honda CR-V 4WD LX. it's just a little SUV, so i'm not sure if it really counts or not... but it's cute and nice and stuff... and it's black. i remember severely ripping on joanne and her black SUV... i guess the apple doesn't fall far...

we're picking up the CR-V tomorrow morning. i'll have pictures, of course... including pictures of the PICNIC TABLE it comes with. ooooh la la.

rest in peace, 1994 toyota camry. 177k+ miles, you've been a faithful pal. i'm sorry i never changed your oil as much as i should have... and i'm sorry i left you dusty and dirty and gross the last few years. you'd never guess that i appreciated you by just looking... but i did.

1994 toyota camry... as you sit dead in the driveway, i'm sitting here, browsing new cars on the internet. think of them not as replacements, but as your legacy living on (i'm not straying from your toyota family)...

i'm sorry for burning you with cigarettes, 1994 toyota camry. i'm sorry your mirror fell off. i'm sorry i never once washed you while you were in my possession. i'm sorry your windshield has been cracked for the last six years. i'm sorry i let some thugs break one of your windows in detroit, only to replace it with the wrong color window glass. i really did care about you.

r.i.p. camry. we'll miss you.

i'd like to add that we watched the great disney movie the horse in the grey flannel suit this weekend. i was pleasantly surprised to come out and find tony watching it. i know that deep down inside, he is just dying to ride.

i downloaded the new steve malkmus/jicks album. hmm. not totally sure what to make of it yet. it's not like the first one, that's for sure. i'm hoping it grows on me. i think it's lacking in the smartass pop song department, which is a bit of a disappointment for me.

18 FEB 2003 - 9.56a
ha ha ha. my sister turns 31 today! not that i'm celebrating her birth or anything... i just think it's funny that she's turning 31. maybe she'll celebrate her day by having another kid or something.

good weekend, yes. lots of time with tony. missed out on lacey's par-tay... still bummed about that. i miss my friends. however, tony and i did play joe millionaire the other morning. in case you would like to play this game with your significant other, have him/her wake you up in the morning and say, "i'm sorry, i lied. i didn't really inherit fifty million dollars." then you pause a moment and say, "what the hell are you talking about?" and then you realize that your significant other is just playing joe millionaire.

tony ended up reading out at the beachland on sunday night. he wasn't going to (after he said that he was) but i think i had a hand in his decision to read. it was okay... i've heard him read the thing that he read before... only it was a lot different than the way he read it the other night.

gbv on friday! and it's supposed to get warm (above freezing!)!

17 FEB 2003 - 6.43p
i had a good weekend. i have more to say, but i must prepare myself for the joe millionaire finale. i know, i know... you're all probably as excited as i am. however, i will have nothing to do with my monday nights now! i might take up another hobby (in addition to television watching)... maybe i'll start going to the movies!

yeah, right.

13 FEB 2003 - 11.30p
happy valentine's day, a day early. valentine's day might be the lamest holiday ever, but since i have a boyfriend all to myself this year, i am enjoying it simply as an excuse to exchange gifts simply to say, "gee, thanks. you're swell." i gave tony a really nice cobalt blue glass mixing bowl (mixing bowl!) and the jackass dvds. there is nothing that says romance better than jackass. i made tony give me my gifts early this morning while we were snowed in and not leaving bed. he gave me truffles, a silly picture frame that i love, and a shirt. good stuff!

nothing else going on. school was lame today. i hate pagemaker. i mean, i really hate it. i did okay, though, but i don't like it when things don't work the way i want them too. gah.

paul h informed me that he got a free ted leo ticket at the apples in stereo show last night. what the...? i won't be going to see teddy (sad) because gbv is in columbus the following night. i can't waste my energy on teddy when i must be well rested for a gbv mini-roadtrip. weeeeeeee! but, if i had received a free ted leo ticket, i'd be all about it... because it was free. oh well... send my love to ted leo, paul.

sooooo, what's new?

a lot is new here, i guess. for example, i officially own lucy. it became officially official on february 8, after the vet exam and after we paid for her. her registered name is A CHANCEOF BLUESKIES (there's a 20 letter/space limit in the AQHA for registered names) and she rules. she's currently still living at her breeder's, and will remain there until we find a house with a barn that can accomodate her, or until we find someplace closer to bring her. it kind of sucks, because she's an hour away... i've seen her all of three times total.

school is going just fine. i had two tests this week... and i think i did pretty well on both of them.

tony is still my boyfriend. that is a very good thing. we are going to see gbv next friday in columbus because both of us are completely insane... and because i really would like to achieve my goal of seeing them ten times this year.

food coffee cocktails party.
